A fundamental component to aging includes conversations on end of life, death and dying. In many cultures death and dying is a topic that is largely avoided. Dying is considered a medicalized emergency rather than a natural completion of life. Alongside heartache, pain and loss can be a beautifully sacred, mystical process, akin to birth, that is deserving of individual contemplation and reflection, profound open conversations, and ultimately offers an opportunity for meaningful connection and community. SAGE has developed a series of end-of-life resources to support LGBTQ+ individuals, their loved ones, and allies. This series includes a glossary of terms and micro-learning videos to educate LGBTQ+ elders on various end-of-life topics.
