How to Join the LGBTQ+ Friendly Aging Network
Show your support for LGBTQ+ communities by starting an LGBTQ+ Friendly Aging Network (FAN)!
A Friendly Aging Network (FAN) connects LGBTQ+ and HIV+ older adults, caregivers, and professionals with inclusive services. Use this toolkit and our office hours to start a FAN in your community with like-minded groups.
Frequently Asked Questions
AN LGBTQ+ Friendly Aging Network is a group of professionals providing LGBTQ+ affirming aging services in their community. This can be as small as a few groups in a small town, or as large as a state-wide network. These networks serve as information and referral hubs for LGBTQ+ older people, caregivers, and professionals.
Anyone providing LGBTQ+ friendly aging services in their community. You do not need a large network of people or groups to start a Friendly Aging Network. A FAN can be as small as three groups that gather to share resources, promote their affirming aging services, and educate others on how they too can best support LGBTQ+ older adults.
We are currently working on building out a platform where you can see Friendly Aging Networks in your area. For the time being, we recommend reaching out to local LGBTQ+ centers, or Area Agencies on Aging to ask who do they know of that is an affirming resource for LGBTQ+ older adults.
