“Policymakers should recognize that for the most part, they obtain their services in a system of care that was designed for the cisgender heterosexual population. Through their advocacy, assertiveness, and persistence, the respondents have been able to nudge the system to align service delivery in a manner aligned with their needs as members of the LGBT community. However, these efforts have not been successful. Some respondents still report experiencing HIV, gender, and age discrimination.”
