“Because new information is emerging rapidly in this fast-evolving field, the Expert Panel considered carefully how best to disseminate the information in this report. This project was conceived as an evolving effort that would require the addition of new information to improve its content and conclusions, Like cross-sectional data, typical publication “fixes” information in time and substance and does not lend itself well to this consensus project.”

This project started over two years ago when the AIDS Community Research Initiative of America gave a presentation to the American Academy of HIV Medicine staff on their comprehensive study Research on Older Adults with HIV (ROAH) of 1000 New York City older adults living with HIV. It was the first time we learned that the HIV epidemic was now aging as a function of the enormous improvements in HIV treatment over the past 30 years.
